Ukraine bans 15 Russian TV channels

On February 11, 2016, the National Council on Television and Radio Broadcasting banned 15 Russian TV channels. The main reasons for removing these TV channels from the list of foreign programs were violations of national security and advertising laws. The decision was made based on the results of monitoring of channels that are rebroadcast on the Ukrainian cable network and are not signatories to the European Convention on Transfrontier Television and will come into force a month after its publication, the press service of the agency reports. “Due to the violations of the national legislation revealed during the monitoring from January 16 to January 28, 2016, the following TV channels cannot be rebroadcast in the country from now on: “Top Secret”, ‘Who's Who’, ‘Chanson TV’, ‘Amusement Park’, ‘World of the Series’, ‘Auto Plus’, ‘Kitchen TV’, ‘KHL’, ‘Science 2.0’, ‘My Planet’, ‘Telecafe’, ‘Fighter’, ‘Time: Far and Near’, ‘Real Scary Television’ (NST) and ‘Sarafan’, the statement said.
